If you’ve just found this blog, I hope that your a student skydiver too.
You’ve probably been searching the net like a complete mental case looking for anything and everything about participating in an AFF skydiving course.
I’ve spent ages searching and reading everything online written by student skydiver bloggers who describe their experiences when completing their AFF course. In particular I’ve been interested in students who continue on from their AFF course to succesfully obtain their ‘A’ license.
There are not a huge amount of blogs out there, but the ones that I have found are placed in the links section.
Please take the time to read about why this site exists, then read the dislaimer (it’s gotta be done, so just read it will ya). The long and short of it is; always listen to your instructor! Do not take any advice from this website, because your instructor is god!

ok. so back to me
…after attempting static line progression in Australia in 1997, I finally have the guts (and the cash) to go for my AFF course and eventually obtain my ‘A’ license. So here’s what I’ve done so far:
- I’ve been reading heaps about skydiving on the Internet.
- Signed on to Dropzone and read the fatalies report
- Really, really, really (I mean really) annoyed my girlfriend by talking about skydiving all the time, and trying to justify to her the cost of an AFF course
- Searched high and low for any student skydiver blogs (and had bugger all luck finding many at all, though I did find some. Check the links on the right)
- I’ve wondered how I’d look in a skintight black jumpsuit. Actually no I did NOT. But I did check out some new goggles here. Student goggles really suck.
- I did my second tandem in 10 years, just to remind myself what it was all about.
- THEN, I convinced my girlfriend to do a tandem (and now she wants to do AFF!)
…So that’s what I’ve done leading up to my AFF course, starting on January 10th, 2008.
Let me warn you now. I’ve tried writing blogs before, and generally given up after the first post. But I’m guessing that’s because I had nothing real to write about anyway. Well now I do. So please read on…and leave some comments too
